Alex Chanin, CEO Alex graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Computer Science in 1990. He did his graduate work at Princeton University from where he graduated in 1992 with an M.S. in Computer Engineering. Alex worked in the medical device space since 1988 when he was part of the Dupont team developing software for an automated blood analysis system used to screen donated blood at blood banks. Alex went on to start a systems development and regulatory consulting business specializing in medical device manufacturing, clinical development, and compliance. In 2002, after a successful sale of his company, Alex joined Vital Signs (a $250MM public company) where he held CIO and COO positions. After the Vital Signs acquisition by GE Healthcare in 2008, Alex was named the GM and CEO of the $400MM global Vital Signs Devices business at GE. During his tenure at GE, Alex’s P&L received the coveted globe award for the highest revenue growth of a GE Healthcare Systems P&L in 2009 while achieving over 25% pre-tax margin.
Alex joined Visionsense in 2010 with the goal of helping the company enable 3D visualization as the standard of care for minimally invasive surgery.
Avi Yaron, Founder & CTO Mr. Yaron’s 20 years of management and innovation experience evolved from the communications world, first as an officer in the Israeli intelligence forces and later in Eldat Communications, an Infrared diffused wireless communication company. Among his initiatives, he founded ‘MotoTech,’ which developed advanced ignition systems for motorcycles, and was among the developers of Tel-Aviv University’s microprocessor lab. Mr. Yaron became deeply involved in the minimal invasive surgical field after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. After experiencing the shortcomings of the existing technology first hand he sought to find better solutions.
Mr. Yaron has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University, and an M.S. in Management from Boston University. He holds several patents in the field. He is a visiting lecturer in the MBA entrepreneurial programs of MIT and Babson College.
Joseph W. Rollero, Executive VP Business Development Mr. Rollero's brings over 20 years of experience in the medical field comes from working with four Johnson & Johnson companies, including Ethicon Endo-Surgery and CardioVations at their inception. He brings his expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery Marketing and Sales Management experience in developing markets, businesses and organizations. This personal experience in the medical field has also led him to hold several patents in the MIS segment.
Mr. Rollero holds a B.S. degree in Business at Jacksonville University.
Michael S. Tropea, VP Sales Mr. Tropea joins Visionsense with 12 years of experience in Sales, Sales Management, Marketing and Sales Operations in the medical device field. For the past 4 years, Mike was one of the top Sales Managers with Intuitive Surgical, the world leader in robotic surgery.
Mr. Tropea holds a BA degree in Health and Physical Education at Furman University and MA degree in Public Administration at Troy State University, Livorno, Italy.
Dr. Tami Frenkel, VP Strategic Marketing Dr. Frenkel gained her professional experience in developing artificial nerves at The Weizman Institute, with the collaboration of Stanford University. She managed the QA and Regulatory department in a packaging company and established a private commercial company. Dr. Frenkel has acquired most of the project designs and management experience in the life sciences field, and in addition to her extensive studies.
Dr. Frenkel holds a Ph.D. in Bio-Medical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.Sc. in Industrial Design, Engineering and Biology.
Ofer Braude, VP Research & Development and Israeli Site Manager Mr. Ofer Braude has vast experience as VP Research & Development in 3 multidisciplinary companies. Latest experience was in MindGuard, developing a stroke prevention permanent implant, diverting emboli from reaching the brain. Previously, he was in Lasercomm for 3 years where had managed a growing R&D group from 10 up to 60 team members, and 10 years in medical lasers’ market leader Lumenis (Formerly: ESC and Laser Industries), preliminary as mechanical engineer till promoted to VP of R&D.
Mr. Braude holds B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University.
Azi Ben-Yishai, VP Finance & Operations Mr. Azi Ben-Yishai has an experience of over 20 years in the medical industry. He was the COO and Product Manager of Y-Beam Technologies Inc., a company active in the field of medical device lasers. Previously, he was the Vice-president of Lon Cosmetics Ltd. an import/ export marketing company in the cosmetics field.
Mr. Ben-Yishai holds an M.Sc in Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. |
